2007 Knitters Retreat

Yarn Expressions’ 2007 Knitters Retreat will be held October 4-7 at the Dubose Conference Center in Monteagle, TN. Nestled in the Cumberland Mountains of centeral Tennessee, Monteagle is located only about 70 miles north of Huntsville, AL, and is an easy drive from just about anywhere in the Southeastern US. About the Workshop:

Our workshop for the weekend, Freedom to Knit, will be led by Veronica White of Huntsville, AL. Freedom to Knit will give you the tools to create sweaters that are custom fit to your shape and your gauge. You’ll be able to adjust any pattern to suit your personal style and gauge after learning Veronica’s techniques.

About the Location:

Situated on the Cumberland Mountain Plateau, the campus of the Dubose Conference Center is a beautiful place with equipment and facilities from walking trails to swimming pools and tennis courts. We’ll arrive at the height of autumn’s beauty and there will be plenty of free time in the schedule to take advantage of everything Dubose has to offer. The entire weekend is casual and comfortable. It may be chilly in October; be sure to bring a sweater! There’ll be plenty of time for knitting and spinning, so bring that project along to work on.

Cost:

Cost includes 3 nights accommodations in hotel-style rooms (single or double occupancy available) with private bath, all meals (except Thursday dinner) and class fee. Materials for class are extra and should be purchased before leaving for the retreat.

Cost: $300 double occupancy, $350 single occupancy

50% non refundable deposit is due with your registration. Registration closes 6/15. The registration deadline has been extended to 8/1/07. Balance is due no later than 9/1/07.

Additional Events:

* Brown Bag Chinese Auction — Take a 1 gallon zip lock bag and fill it with something another fiber fanatic would like. Yarn, fiber, knitting supplies, anything you’d like to share. The only requirement is that it fit inside that gallon bag. Put your plastic bag inside a brown paper bag, seal it and turn it in when you check in. You’ll be given a ticket with a number on it. After dinner we’ll adjourn to the Barth Room where we’ll see who gets to go first. Participation is optional, but it promises to be a lot of fun!

** Stash Bash — We all have yarn/fiber/stuff that we look at and wonder why we bought it. Here’s your chance to offer it up to a new home. We’ll have tables set up in the Barth Room and you can trade, barter or sell your unwanted stash. Who knows what you’ll go home with?
