It was a real party

You shoulda been there, we had a blast! First there were just a few but by the middle of the afternoon there were 15 of us!

Let’s see, there was Susanna and her mother, Janet. Isn’t Susanna’s sweater pretty? Nancy showed up, as promised, with her stage prop knitting in hand. She has done a wonderful job of creating some truly awful knitting. Frances came by to work on her scarf, made out of Rowan Cash Soft, I think. (I snuck a shot of her cute Trekking socks when she wasn’t looking.)

Then we had the Fair Isle crew. This is a group, affectionately known as the Thursday Divas, who’ve been knitting together at Yarn Expressions for the better part of a year. They took basic knitting, moved on to intermediate, and couldn’t get enough. Just before Christmas they decided to immerse themselves in the world of Fair Isle knitting. These three are all knitting Hillswick Lumber, from Anne Feitelson’s book of Fair Isle designs. Here’s Jan’s swatch. Kim is doing the dragonfly vest from Sweaters From Camp. (Kim, honey, trust me, you don’t want me to post the picture I took of you. I’m not always so good when it comes to photographing faces. Even of pretty women like you.)

Not only did we have knitters, we had spinners too! I was too busy taking pictures, but one of these days I’m going to pay attention when Annette and Phyllis start spindling.

Kay, Donna and Jill, you’ll just have to come back next month, so I can take pictures of you. And Kim. I promise to do better then.

It was so much fun to meet new knitters and see what everyone was working on. I can’t wait to see what next month will bring.
