We have a few new classes set up for June:
- Beginning Knitting 1, Monday June 19, 1-3 pm.
- Beginning Spinning, Tuesday June 12, 6-7 pm. $24 includes use of one of our wheels and fiber. Wheels also will be available for rent on a weekly basis. Class max is 6 on this one. It also will be offered the following Tuesday, June 19, also from 6-7 pm.
- Beginning Knitting 2 starts Tuesday June 26, 1-3 pm.
We still have a few spots left in the Mitered Square Blanket class scheduled for June 11 and 18 (this is a two session class) from 6-8 pm. Cost is $50 plus materials.
We also still have some openings for the Knitters Retreat in October. Click on the button on the top right of the next column for details and a registration form.
I just had word that we should expect 40 pounds of Koigu via UPS tomorrow. Why is that this stuff always shows up as I’m on my way out of town? I’m leaving in the morning to go to market. I’ll post pictures and stories as often as I can. Save some Koigu for me, will you?

We’ll be closed on Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day. We’ll reopen at 11:00 on Tuesday. I’m getting ready to go to market, so if there’s anything you want to see at Yarn Expressions, leave a comment here and I’ll do my best to find it. Watch for photos from class and market commentary next week.

It’s that time of year again — time for our 12th Anniversary Sale. The sale begins tomorrow; until we close on Friday, all regular price yarn will be discounted 20%, books will be discounted 60%. Walk in, phone and online orders are welcome.
On Saturday, all regular price yarn is 40% off. Due to the large volume of traffic we have on that day, no phone or online orders will be taken on Saturday. We’ll be open regular hours, 11 to 4, and 11-7 on Thursday. This is our way of saying thank you to our wonderful customers who’ve helped us stay in business all these years. Here’s to 12 more!

There will be a post with knitting related content later. For now, read this and go hug your mother. I’m still wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes.

Look what showed up on our doorstep today…

a brand new box of Koigu! This is half of our Spring order, the other half should show up tomorrow. There are some old favorites in here, and a couple of colors we’ve never had too! What does one do with all that Koigu? This…

This is from Joy. She and her sister Sara love Koigu and love knitting together, even though they are separated by several thousand miles. They decide on a project, Sara comes and picks out the yarn and they have their own private knitalong. They’ve done the Oriental Jacket together, as well as the log cabin blanket from Mason Dixon Knitting. When Sara saw my mitered square blanket done in sock yarn left overs, inspiration hit and they decided to do one out of Koigu leftovers.
If you have a picture of something you’ve made from Yarn Expressions yarn, send me a picture. I’d love to share it here.
Coming Attractions
Next month we’re expecting 30 one-pound bags of Mountain Colors Bearfoot mill ends. While they’re fun for making mix ‘n’ match socks, they’re also great for mitered blankets. Two pounds of Bearfoot (or Koigu) will make a good sized blanket. We’re setting up a two session class for Monday nights in June. If you’re interested, let me know.
Addi Lace Needles
We don’t have enough call for these needles to keep them in stock, but I’ve had several people inquire about them. I’ve decided to put together a special order on May 21. If you’d like to have some of these, please give us a call at the store. We’ll need a 50% deposit to place the order, with the balance due when the needles come in. They’re available in sizes 1 through 6 (metric sizes 2.5, 3, 3.25, 3.5, 3.75 and 4 mm), and lengths of 24″, 32″ and 47″. The 1’s and 2’s are $13.50 each, the other sizes are $15.95.
I’m off to Arizona in the morning, to visit my mother. Thursday is Knit Night and Jill will be standing in for me. I’ll see you when I get back.
