Yes, my dears, it’s true. Franklin and I have been talking about this for a very long time, and we finally have our ducks in a row. There are two things that make this photo shoot special (well, beyond the fact that it’s Franklin).
- This is the only stop he’s making in the Deep South. Okay, I know he was at Knitter’s Nest in Austin, but that’s Texas. Texas is so big it’s a region unto itself.
- This is the final shoot of the project.
The big day is Saturday, October 11th from 10:00 until 4:00. Notice we’re opening an hour earlier than usual. According to Franklin, his best guesstimate of the number of spots that will be left is 40. There might be more, but for right now, we’re going to take 40 reservations, starting Monday, July 28th.
Here’s what you need to do (but not before Monday, please): Come to the store or e-mail me (knit at YarnExpressions dot com). I will e-mail you a release that must be filled out and returned to us by October 1. We’ll give you a reminder call on Thursday the 9th to make sure you’re still interested in the sitting.
We’ll be making a party of it, so even if you don’t want your picture taken, come hang out for the day. There’ll be sneak peeks of the forthcoming book It Itches, goodies courtesy of Interweave Press and edible treats too.
Remember, this will be the very last chance to be part of this unique photo gallery. Mark your calendar, you won’t want to miss the fun!

Housekeeping first: The Crochetville Swatch Party previously scheduled for this Sunday, July 13, has been canceled due to circumstances beyond our control. We also are postponing the Parking Lot Swap Meet until cooler, drier weather prevails.
Now for the famous ladies whose wares have come to Yarn Expressions as serious temptations for you all.
Those are none other than the long awaited, much anticipated Abby’s Batts! From top center, moving clockwise, we have Tea Rose, Dandelion, Aubergine, Hot Tomato, Melon Tweed, Daffodil and Sky Blue , with (l) Macadam Tweed and (r) Nightwoods. These batts vary in size from 30 to 54 grams and in price from $11 to $15. I have plans to get them up on the website (if they last long enough), but an e-mail or a phone call will get you one until then.

You might want to toss one of these in your basket too. They just arrived, and are in limited supply. Since it’s a calendar, the distributor says there’ll be no reprinting, so when they’re gone, they’re gone.

It’s hard to decide what to do with holidays that fall in the middle of the week. We have decided, though. Here’s the low-down:
Thursday, July 3 — regular hours, 11:00 to 7:00. If you’re in town, stop by for Knit Night from 5:00 to 7:00. We always have a good time.
Friday, July 4 — CLOSED.
Saturday, July 5 — regular hours, 11:00 to 4:00.
Come back to us on Monday, July 7 for the inaugural get-together of the spinning group, beginning at 4:00. Novices, old hands, curious non-spinners are all welcome.
