Yes, my dears, it’s true. Franklin and I have been talking about this for a very long time, and we finally have our ducks in a row. There are two things that make this photo shoot special (well, beyond the fact that it’s Franklin).
- This is the only stop he’s making in the Deep South. Okay, I know he was at Knitter’s Nest in Austin, but that’s Texas. Texas is so big it’s a region unto itself.
- This is the final shoot of the project.
The big day is Saturday, October 11th from 10:00 until 4:00. Notice we’re opening an hour earlier than usual. According to Franklin, his best guesstimate of the number of spots that will be left is 40. There might be more, but for right now, we’re going to take 40 reservations, starting Monday, July 28th.
Here’s what you need to do (but not before Monday, please): Come to the store or e-mail me (knit at YarnExpressions dot com). I will e-mail you a release that must be filled out and returned to us by October 1. We’ll give you a reminder call on Thursday the 9th to make sure you’re still interested in the sitting.
We’ll be making a party of it, so even if you don’t want your picture taken, come hang out for the day. There’ll be sneak peeks of the forthcoming book It Itches, goodies courtesy of Interweave Press and edible treats too.
Remember, this will be the very last chance to be part of this unique photo gallery. Mark your calendar, you won’t want to miss the fun!

This is so exciting! I hope I can secure a place for this fun event.
For your purposes, does “Monday” begin a minute past what we’d call Sunday midnight? We want to come from New Mexico and be in your 40 and timing seems important. Is email best or what do you recommend for the two of us?
Hi Mindy, and all who are interested in being part of the final public shoot for The 1,000 Knitters Project. We will e-mail a model release form to anyone who sends us a request.
The numbering comes in with the forms being returned. They require a human signature, so they must be mailed to Yarn Expressions, and the deadline is October 1. We will number them as they arrive. We will accept more than 40 forms, as Franklin has indicated that there might be a few more spots available. He won’t know until next month at the earliest. When he knows, he’ll let me know, and I’ll let you know. We will notify the confirmed participants, so they can make travel arrangements.
So don’t get up at 12:01 am, Mindy, ’cause I won’t be here, I’ll be asleep. But I will send you a release form as soon as I receive your request.
I wish I could join in the fun with Franklin - that is the weekend of fall break and we’ll be in Gulf Shores - waaaaahhhhhh!!!!!
[…] even more news, Franklin’s 1,000 Knitter Project is coming to Huntsville. I have already signed my model release form, and it is galloping towards Meg as I write via Pony […]
Please please please let me in!!!!
I would like to be there for the party but really don’t care to have my photo made! So I hope I can just drop by sometime that day. I am wtill working on some self-striping socks in stockinette but I don’t think they look like anything worth showing! Thanks, Elizabeth
