Two new arrivals at Yarn Expressions:

Jojoland Consonance, a 50/50 silk and cashmere blend laceweight. At $24 for a 440 yard skein, you can make a small indulgence and make a scarf, or buy a few more skeins to make a shawl and still stay within budget.

Crystal Palace Mini Mochi, their newest self-striping fingering weight yarn. If you love Japanese self striping yarns but want a softer yarn, this is the one for you. The colors, as you can see, are glorious, and the fiber content is 80% merino wool, 20% nylon. As always, Crystal Palace has a nice selection of patterns for use with this yarn, with more to come I’m sure.
Our final introduction is of the newest arrival to the Yarn Expressions family. Introducing our grandson, Baby Joe. He was born on Monday, January 19th and is the best little baby boy around. Grandma’s not biased, not one little bit! I have a feeling that I’ll be on the road back and forth to Tennessee a lot over the next few months, just to get my share of smooches in.

What a beautiful baby!
I have to tell you that I bought some Mini Mochi from YE last week. It’s been a horrible disappointment. It has knots in it that totally ruin the long variegations (mine went instantly from yellow to blue) and areas of big fat unspun roving that won’t work on my size 2 needles. Since it’s practically an unspun roving, it splits like crazy. I will never use this yarn again, and warn other people about it. The colors are beautiful - which is fine if all you want to do is look at it.
Hi Viki — This is very unusual. I’ve been working with this yarn and haven’t found any knots or thick spots. Please bring the skein back and we’ll replace it with another skein of the same yarn or another yarn of your choice. I’d like to be able to send that back to Crystal Palace for evaluation.

What a gorgeous baby! The yarn is very nice, but the baby is amazing.
