New Malabrigo

When I was at market a few weeks ago, I stopped at the Malabrigo booth.  I had refills to order, and my sales rep showed me a brand new yarn.  So new that this was the first place it had been shown.  I was blown away, and promptly ordered many skeins of every color.  Today it arrived — Malabrigo Rasta.Malabrigo Rasta

The colors are even better in person, believe me!  This bulky single ply wool weighs in at 90 yards per skein and will be perfect for warm snuggly accessories.

Greetings from Long Beach

I’ve been in Long Beach, CA since Thursday, attending the LYSO’s trade show, known as TNNA.  I left Huntsville Thursday morning, just as the snow was beginning to sprinkle the tarmac, and arrived in Long Beach just after lunchtime, greeted by 74 degrees and sunshine.  Not a hardship at all!  The convention center is very near the ocean, and right next to the aquarium.  The view from my room:

Nice, huh?  You’ll be much more interested in this next shot, I’m sure:2010 Long Beach stash
There are goodies from companies we’ve dealt with for years, and some from companies that are brand new to us.  As you can see, there also are some new books on the horizon, and some new bags from Namaste.  I’m going to work on a newsletter over the next week (I’ll still be away;  I have to check in on my parents in Arizona on my way home), and I’ll give details of some of these goodies, and will have more pictures to share.  I have one parting shot to share with you…

Crazyfoot sock
Mountain Colors has come out with a new sock yarn — superwash merino/nylon blend, nice tight twist, same gorgeous colors.  They sent me a sample skein before Christmas, and this sock has been my travel knitting.  I’m working on sock #2 now, and am loving it.  We’ve received some of the colors I ordered already, and more will be arriving in a week or two.  When I talked to Val this morning she said it was moving fast, so get thee to the store if you want to see it in person and fondle some before it’s all gone!

Weather Statement

Given the fact that

  • I’ll be out of town tomorrow
  • they’re predicting snow for the Valley

I’m canceling Knit Night for January 7th.   I’ve told Donna/Jill/Val to close the store at 4:00 so everyone gets home safely.  If the roads are bad, no one’s going to want to be out buying yarn anyway, so why jeopardize the safety of my staff when they could be home knitting, right?  So if you’re thinking of heading to Yarn Expressions Thursday or Friday, give us a call first.
